Hey everyone reading this I decided to start this blog before I go on my exchange to france so I can look back on it when I’ve completed my exchange and see how much I’ve grown and changed and I hope that other people can gain from my experience .
I guess I’ll start off with explaining why I chose to do an exchange and leave my home and friends for a month well these are the reasons. For my whole life I’ve had a love of languages don’t have an idea why just have and in 2004 my family decided to take a trip to France for a family holiday and I fell in love with the country and culture. Since 2003 we have visited France and each year my knowledge and love of the culture, language and country has grown. After completing my Junior Cert I decided to do Transition Year which is a gap year pretty much which you can part-take in extra curriculum activities other than academic , this is where I began my search on going to France by myself for a length of time. But as I began to see every avenue I began to realise it wasn’t going to be easy along with it being really expensive my school didn’t like the idea so I decided to put my dream on hold. But lucky for me my Mom’s friend’s daughter was taking part in an exchange and there was an opening in the same organisation for me to go too.
We began the process of filling out forms and discussing who I was going to. This week I finally got matched with a girl in Paris. It has finally hit me that I’m fully going now and it’s scary. At the beginning I was so exciting to be going abroad for a month this summer and am going to missing out on everything my friends do , yet I know that this experience is a once in a lifetime oppurtunity and I have to just have faith in my decision and take a leap which will hopefully be all worthwhile. Some of my friends think I’m absolutely mad and others are really supportive which I’m so grateful for because without their help and guidance I don’t know what I’d do.
To all of ye who read this I hope ye will join me on my journey to France and back and hope ye gain from reading my blogs and any questions don’t be afraid to ask ![]()
Bye for now ,
